One of the co-founders of ACM, Dr. Ted has been in practice since 1987. After graduating from the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine he practiced for a short time in his hometown of Neosho, Missouri, before opening the Animal Clinic of Monett in 1989. A mixed animal practitioner, Dr. Ted currently specializes mainly in Production Medicine. He spends quite a bit of time serving as the Senior Veterinarian for Joplin Regional Stockyards, a role he has filled since 1995. Understandably, Dr. Ted is well known and respected by Southwest Missouri's cattle producers, a relationship solidified by the fact he is a cattle producer himself. Dr. Ted spends his free time with his family and tending to his large beef herd on his farm near Monett.

After graduating from the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine in 1988, Dr. Carol opened ACM with Dr. Ted. Dr. Carol is a mixed animal veterinarian but spends most of her time treating companion animals and exotics. Our clients fondly know her simply as Dr. Carol and have trusted her for over 25 years to tend to their furry family members. After growing up in Stratford Connecticut, where she still has family, Dr. Carol moved to the Midwest where she made her home. She loves traveling and learning foreign languages and in her free time she rides horses, knits, sews, plays the cello, practices yoga, gardens, and cooks. From that list you can tell she is a busy lady! She and Dr. Ted share their home with 4 dogs, 2 cats, 2 horses, a flock of chickens, 2 birds, numerous fish and a herd of cattle. Dr. Carol loves the constant challenges and learning opportunities veterinary medicine has to offer.

Dr. Harper joined ACM's staff in 1994 after responding to Dr. Carol's (his fellow UMC graduate) request to come to Southwest Missouri and practice. Dr. Harper, who grew up in northwest Missouri, received his DVM from the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine in 1989. His signature cowboy hat and boots make him an easily recognizable favorite of ACM's clientele. Dr. Harper practices mixed animal medicine, spending a lot of time taking care of horses and cattle. He is also a very talented small animal orthopedic surgeon. He spends his free time with his children, grandchildren, and beautiful wife Karen.

Dr. Tyra joined the Animal Clinic of Monett in the summer of 2010 as a new graduate. Hailing from Guntown, Mississippi, Dr. Tyra grew up on his family's farm where cattle, chickens, and the occasional goat and pig were raised. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from Millsaps College in Jackson, Mississippi before attending veterinary school at Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Tyra's special interests include beef and dairy production medicine and bovine reproductive services. John is married to his wife Nikki and is the proud father of daughter Emory. They all share the house with a six-year-old pit bull named Baloo.

Dr. Stokes is the newest member of the ACM team. Originally from Blue Springs, Missouri, Dr. Stokes attended Truman State University in Kirksville, Missouri for his undergraduate education and Kansas State University for veterinary medical school. After graduating from Truman State, he went to work at Five Rivers Cattle Feeding, as well as the Kansas City Pet Project at the Kansas City, Missouri Animal Shelter. Just like his colleagues, Dr. Stokes practices mixed animal medicine, with an interest in the Internal Medicine of animals both small and large. In his free time Dr. Stokes enjoys barbecuing, catfishing, renovating his 1920's Craftsman Bungalow, and spending time with his senior Black Lab mix, Truman.

Shelby Clark is a Barry County native who graduated from Purdy, Missouri. She first joined ACM in 2016 where you would see her behind the counter helping with large animal medicine. After a few years away, she rejoined ACM in May of 2022 as our Practice Manager. Shelby's favorite thing about ACM is working closely with our wonderful and successful doctors and team, although, large animal medicine is a close second for her. She likes being able to see an issue, and then see what steps are taken to resolve it. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her children, SJ and Sage. Along with her pup, Winston and her hedgehog, Vern.
